What To Expect

What can I expect on my first visit?

During your first visit, Dr. Rebecca will explain how joint dysfunctions may occur, how a chiropractic adjustment is used to correct them, and the many benefits chiropractic has to offer.

If you’ve never been adjusted before, this is a great way to have some of your questions answered by Dr. Rebecca, so you know exactly what to expect. Dr. Rebecca will always answer any questions or concerns you may have prior to initiating treatment.

An exam, and evaluation will be conducted at the first visit, and Dr. Rebecca will determine if you may benefit from chiropractic care. Once the exam and evaluation are done, a second appointment will be scheduled for a report of findings with Dr. Rebecca.

At this point when you return, Dr. Rebecca will explain to you (in understandable, non-scientific terms) what is going on in your body and exactly what your options are when it comes to treatment. After this consultation, you’ll receive for your first adjustment.A part of your adjustment may be performed while you are face down, while other adjustments may be delivered while you are either on your side, sitting upright or lying on your back.

What is a "subluxation"?

A subluxation is a misalignment of the bones that house and protect the spinal cord. Any misalignment puts unnecessary pressure on the nervous system and damages the nerve supply to different parts of the body. Vertebral subluxations (i.e. spinal misalignment) that are left untreated for years can lead to symptoms of pain, disease, and an unhealthy expression of life.

What is an adjustment?

An adjustment is the term used to explain the chiropractic treatment. It is known in the medical community as spinal manipulation, although the chiropractic adjustment is performed specifically by chiropractors with extensive experience in this type of treatment.

A chiropractic adjustment is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort because of the minimal force and gentle pressure that is utilized. Most patients feel relief immediately following the adjustment.

Does the adjustment hurt?

Any reported soreness after an initial adjustment has been described as similar to starting a new exercise program. Drinking plenty of water, using an ice pack, and engaging in light stretching after your first visit can help ease any discomfort to promote healing.

If you do experience any soreness or discomfort, please let Dr. Rebecca know immediately, as communication is an important factor in the healing process.

Will I be sore following a chiropractic adjustment?

Dr. Rebecca offers a unique chiropractic adjustment tailored to the specific needs of each patient. Her thorough process allows her to choose the most appropriate technique to connect with the individual.

Are all patients adjusted the same way?

Chiropractic is the largest safe, non-invasive, and drugless form of health care available. Statistically, patient risk is substantially lower when receiving chiropractic care as opposed to medical care, where the use of prescription drugs and surgery pose a greater risk.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Different patients have different healing times. Some experience relief within 1-2 weeks; others notice changes before the end of the first month. Healing is dependent on the length of time a patient has had their subluxations, and the severity of the problem.
